Main Research Themes
- Experimental research toward early agricultural revitalization and reconstruction (issues corresponding to the Great East Japan Earthquake) ~ Early recovery of agricultural productivity; producing district rehabilitation through new technology development; production of safe and secure agricultural and livestock products
- Creation of agricultural and livestock products supporting Foodkingdom Miyagi ~ Selection of land-utilizing crop varieties and development of cultivation techniques
- Establishment of environment-considered agricultural technology ~ Development of techniques to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and agrichemicals
- Establishment of technology adapted to environmental changes ~ Breeding of new paddy rice varieties (cold weather resistance, high quality and excellent taste, etc.) and countermeasures to heat
- Development of technology for effective farmland utilization ~ Farmland consolidation, maintenance of irrigation and drainage facilities, development of maintenance and management techniques
- Establishment of work-saving, low-cost and labor-saving technologies ~ Establishment of labor-saving, low-cost and highly productive culture techniques
