"Agricultural Experimental Research Promotion Initiative (from 2016 to 2020 fiscal year)" Seven main experimental research themes

1. Experimental research toward early agricultural revitalization and reconstruction after Great East Japan Earthquake
2. Creation of agricultural and livestock products supporting Foodkingdom Miyagi
3. Establishment of environment-considered agricultural technology
4. Establishment of technology adapted to environmental changes
5. Development of technology for effective farmland utilization
6. Establishment of work-saving, low-cost and labor-saving technologies
7. Establishment of agricultural technology using advanced technology

Main Research Themes

1. Experimental research toward early agricultural revitalization and reconstruction (issues corresponding to the Great East Japan Earthquake) ～ Early recovery of agricultural productivity; producing district rehabilitation through new technology development; production of safe and secure agricultural and livestock products
2. Creation of agricultural and livestock products supporting Foodkingdom Miyagi ～ Selection of land-utilizing crop varieties and development of cultivation techniques
3. Establishment of environment-considered agricultural technology ～ Development of techniques to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and agrichemicals
4. Establishment of technology adapted to environmental changes ～ Breeding of new paddy rice varieties (cold weather resistance, high quality and excellent taste, etc.) and countermeasures to heat
5. Development of technology for effective farmland utilization ～ Farmland consolidation, maintenance of irrigation and drainage facilities, development of maintenance and management techniques
6. Establishment of work-saving, low-cost and labor-saving technologies ～ Establishment of labor-saving, low-cost and highly productive culture techniques
7. Establishment of agricultural technology using advanced technology ～ Development of techniques using genetic information, etc.
